Gin Guild member launches Innovative Botanical Discovery App
10th June, 2026
Gin Guild Warden Rectifier Sara Sergent, founder of Alpine Distilling, has unveiled Forager by Alpine Distilling, a pioneering mobile application designed to transform how consumers discover and understand botanicals through interactive, sensory-led learning.
Available now on the Apple App Store, Forager represents an innovative step beyond traditional spirits education, inviting users to explore the flavours, origins and stories behind botanicals through games, curated content and cocktail inspiration. The platform aims to make botanical knowledge accessible and engaging, encouraging users to build a deeper appreciation of the ingredients that shape the world of gin and beyond.
Sara has long been recognised for her unique approach to distillation, combining botanical science with culinary expertise and immersive hospitality. A James Beard Award semifinalist and one of the few distillers working at the intersection of flavour, education and sensory experience, her work has consistently pushed the boundaries of how consumers engage with spirits.
Forager builds on this philosophy by creating what Alpine Distilling describes as a “botanical passport”, allowing users to progress from Seedling to Master Forager while exploring ingredients, regions and flavour profiles through an interactive journey. Alongside its educational content, the app includes a curated botanical library and cocktail catalogue designed to connect botanical discovery with practical application.
The launch reflects Alpine Distilling’s broader commitment to botanical innovation. The Utah-based distillery has gained international recognition for its use of 100% vapour extraction techniques, the development of more than 2,000 custom gins and numerous industry awards, including multiple Platinum and Double Gold medals.
As Warden Rectifier of the Gin Guild, Sara Sergent continues to champion excellence in distillation while demonstrating how innovation can help broaden appreciation of gin and its botanical foundations. The launch of Forager represents another example of Guild members leading the industry through education, creativity and a passion for sharing expert knowledge with consumers around the world.
We at the Guild congratulate Sara and the team at Alpine Distilling on this exciting new venture and looks forward to seeing how Forager inspires a new generation of botanical enthusiasts.
