Madrona Distillery’s Garden Club Gin Named America’s Greatest London Dry Gin 2026 by ADI
21st May, 2026
Madrona Distillery’s Garden Club Gin has been named America’s Greatest London Dry Gin, presented by The Gin Guild, at the 2026 American Distilling Institute (ADI) International Spirits Competition.
The Orcas Island-based distillery also secured a Gold Medal, Best of Category, and the coveted “Perfect Pour – America’s Best Martini” award, underlining its growing reputation for producing gins of exceptional quality and balance.
The award adds to an already extensive list of international accolades for Madrona Distillery and reinforces its position as one of the most highly regarded craft producers in the United States.
A London Dry approach shaped by Orcas Island terroir
Speaking about the creation of Garden Club Gin, co-founder and distiller Tom Allan highlighted the careful balance between traditional London Dry structure and the unique botanical character of the Pacific Northwest.
“When we set out to create the Garden Club sensory profile we focused on adding subtle elements of the Orcas Island terroir while maintaining the balance and elegant flavour integration of a traditional London Dry Gin,” said Allan.
“After several months of experimentation, we settled on a bouquet of vapour-infused floral botanicals including rose petals and lavender from our garden on the shores of Eastsound. The vapour infusion keeps the floral elements light and in balance with the juniper, citrus peel and spice that go into the still wash.”
The resulting expression reflects a deliberate restraint in floral character, designed to complement rather than dominate the classic London Dry framework.
Recognition from a distinguished judging panel
The ADI International Spirits Competition is widely regarded as one of the most rigorously judged events in the global spirits calendar. The 2026 gin category was chaired by Dr Anne Brock, formerly Master Distiller at Bombay Sapphire and previously at Bermondsey Distillery in London. Anne, who holds a doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Oxford, is also a board member and past Grand Rectifier of The Gin Guild.
Madrona Distillery expressed particular pride in receiving recognition from a panel led by Dr Brock.
“We are particularly excited to receive these awards knowing that Dr Anne Brock was involved in the judging,” said the distillery. “We view Dr Brock as the great protector of gin standards and quality through her work in the trade and through The Gin Guild.”
About Madrona Distillery
Madrona Distillery was founded in 2022 by Tom and Anne Allan with the aim of producing traditional gin with global ambitions but rooted in local character. Commercial production began in February 2024 with its Dry Gin, which quickly earned a Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Tom Allan trained in distillation and spirits production at the University of California, Davis and Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, and leads production as distiller. The distillery relocated to Orcas Island in early 2026, where its Eastsound site now serves as production facility, tasting room and event space.
Madrona Distillery and its founders are members of The Gin Guild, the American Distilling Institute, the Washington Distillers Guild, and the American Craft Spirits Association.
